Hydrographic and Geophysical Surveys for Combatant Loading Wharf Design
The Urago Ordnance Storage Area is located in Urago, Yokosuka, Japan, in the southwest corner of Tokyo Bay. The site is used for military purposes by the U.S. Navy as part of the United States Fleet Activities Yokosuka. An ammunition wharf to conduct combatant ship ordnance loading/off-loading operations has been proposed for the facility as part of the P996 Combatant Loading Wharf project. Sea Engineering, Inc. (SEI) was contracted by Environmental Science Corp. and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct hydrographic and geophysical surveys in support of the proposed improvements. The surveys included a multibeam sonar, single beam echo sounder, side scan sonar, magnetometer, and subbottom profiler.
